Frequently Asked Questions about Snow Powder™ What is Snow Powder™ ?
Snow Powder™ is a patented synthetic polymer with super, water-absorbing properties. It’s the only artificial snow on the market today that erupts when water is added. Snow Powder™ is so realistic that you can spread it on real snow and you won’t notice the difference. Snow Powder™ is now being used in indoor snowboarding parks throughout the world.
Is Snow Powder™ really safe?
Snow Powder™ is safe to use around children and pets. Although tens of thousands of people have used and touched the made (or "grown") snow, and it is entirely non-toxic(...and the snow is 99% water), adult supervision is required when kids are handling the product. The unsupervised use by children is not recommended. Snow Powder™ is not a food product; do not eat. Keep Snow Powder™ away from the eyes and mouth. Allergic reactions can happen to almost anyone from new and unknown (to the individual) substances. In case there you have any kind of unsual reaction to the Snow or Snow Powder™, please do the following: First Aid: In the event of contact of the powder with eyes, rinse affected area with water. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If ingested or inhaled, consult a physician and seek medical attention.
Snow Powder™ is very slippery when wet. Keep the snow off all walking surfaces to prevent slips like you would remove real snow from walking surfaces, and clean up any spill immediately. Is Snow Powder™ reusable? With Snow Powder™ you can make snow again and again. Just add water to make the snow and when the snow dries up, it will go back to being dry Snow powder™. All you need to do is add water again to make snow. What is the best way to create artificial Snow with Snow Powder™?
Adding 2 ounces of room temperature water to 1 teaspoon of Snow Powder™ produces the best quality artificial snow. It is always recommended to make the snow in small quantities to achieve the best results. Snow Powder™ expands 100 times its original volume. Just a small amount of powder is needed to make an impressive quantity of snow. On a much larger scale, 1 pound of Snow Powder™ makes nearly 8 gallons of fluffy snow!
How long does the hydrated snow last?
The snow will start to dehydrate after a few days due to evaporation. Just spray the top of the snow with water and fluff the snow with your fingers to give it a fresh, fluffy look. You can also let the snow completely dry out to use it again. The dry form (the powder) of Snow Powder™ will last forever!
Why does the snow feel cold to the touch?
The snow is almost entirely made up of water, and the water is bound to evaporate. The process of evaporation produces a constant cooling effect. That’s why it’s so much fun to touch!
Will the artificial snow ever melt?
No, the artificial snow will not melt since it is not really ice. However, the water can be released from the snow by adding salt. The addition of salt destroys the water absorbing properties of Snow Powder™ forever.
Does Snow Powder™ has to be on a special surface?
No, Snow Powder™ can be used on almost any surface except untreated wood. Keep the snow off of any surface that might be damaged by water. Surfaces that are ideal include tile, plastic and glass. Snow Powder™ will not stain fabric, but normal care should be taken when applying this water-based material.
Can Snow Powder™ be colored?
Yes! Just add a few drops of food coloring to the water before mixing it with the Snow Powder™.
Can Snow Powder™ be thrown away in the trash?
Snow Powder™ is very easy to clean up and can be disposed of in the trash. Just brush the surface clean or use a vacuum to pick up the snow. Eventually the hydrated snow will turn back into the dry powder and can be easily swept or vacuumed. Snow Powder™ is a non-toxic, environmentally safe polymer.
How can I store Snow Powder™ to use it again?
Keep Snow Powder™ stored in a dark, cool and dry location. Close container when not in use to avoid moisture gain.
Is Snow Powder™ safe to use outside?
Yes! Snow Powder™ looks so real that it is being used by special effects artists in movies to snow outdoor scenes without damaging the plants and grass. Sprinkle the hydrated snow on evergreen trees to produce a realistic snow effect. In fact, the water absorbing properties of the snow are actually beneficial to the plants, as Snow Powder™ will insure timely release and absorbtion of water moisture to the plants. Remember, Snow Powder™ is very slippery when wet. Use special care to keep the snow off any walking surface.
